A CALL TO ACTION: NIGER DELTA STUDENTS MUST SPEAK
Good afternoon, my fellow students, comrades, leaders, and stakeholders.
I bring you warm solidarity greetings as we continue the struggle for better education, better welfare, and a more conducive learning environment for every Niger Delta student in Delta State.
We must begin to ask serious questions.
How long are we going to continue watching educational infrastructure decay while students struggle daily to survive? How long will we continue paying outrageous house rents and accommodation fees when projects that were meant to provide affordable and decent accommodation for students are abandoned within our universities and communities?
Today, I am calling on every Niger Delta student in Delta State to rise to this responsibility.
Send us details, pictures, videos, and locations of any abandoned, dilapidated, or uncompleted NDDC-funded project within your university, campus community, or student environment.
We want to know where these projects are. We want to know what happened to them. We want to know how much was budgeted for them, why they were abandoned, and what is required to bring them back to life.
If a project was designed to accommodate thousands of students, then it must not be allowed to become another abandoned monument while students are struggling to secure accommodation.
We cannot continue to remain silent.
Nobody is coming to fight this battle for us. This is our region. These are our resources. These are projects meant to serve our people, and as students and future leaders of the Niger Delta, we have every right to demand accountability.
This is not about politics.
This is not about attacking individuals.
This is about the welfare and future of Niger Delta students.
We are calling on NDDC and every relevant authority to wake up to their responsibility. Development must not exist only on paper, in budget documents, or during commissioning ceremonies. We want to see the impact in the lives of students.
Let us document these projects.
Let us expose the abandoned ones.
Let us demand completion.
Let us demand accountability.
No student should be paying exorbitant rent when public student accommodation projects are left to rot.
This is our region.
This is our responsibility.
This is our time to speak.
